Celebrate your street

Street parties are a great way to celebrate and get to know your neighbours. The City of Melbourne, in collaboration with the Carlton Police Community Consultative Committee, encourages residents to celebrate together.

Our new Street Party Information Kit makes it easy to arrange a successful event in your street or nearby park.

There’s a lot to think about when you are organising a party in a public street. Insurance, equipment such as barbecues and gas bottles, first aid, safety, road closures, signs and barricades – the list can be daunting. Our Street Party Information Kit simplifies things, and includes:

• a permit application form;
  
• free access to barbecues and gas bottles
  
• a first aid kit, incident book and fire extinguisher;
  
• free traffic management and road closures; and
  
• hints and suggestions to help make sure everyone enjoys the party.
  
• free public liability insurance for early birds
